Supreme Court Over Turns Fire Fighter Case

Score a point for Common Sense. This is the outcome I was hoping for even if I didn't expect it. This case will now get allot of coverage since "Miss. Latina" Sonya Sotomayor went against it while serving on the lower appellate court. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I've gone back and forth a couple times, trying to decide whether this shows her inability to rule effectively or if it shows how well she abides by precedent. I guess it depends on much you read into the precedent Liberals want us to to follow and believe in.

The Liberal view which has commonly be accepted on this matter in large part thanks to Progressivism, is that the 14th Amendment applies only to minorities. In other words we cannot abridge the privileges or immunities of a minority but somehow this does not apply to members of the dominant race. The precedent which was set in the 1873 decision on the Slaughter House Cases said "the amendment was primarily intended to protect former slaves and so could not be broadly applied." This is why courts have maintained for over a a century that it was more important to protect blacks than to protect whites. In others words it's OK if whites are treated unfairly as long as blacks are treated more fairly.

An interesting point I think most people are not aware of, in most other countries reverse discrimination is illegal and frequently tested and upheld. Only in the U.S. where we have Affirmative Action, is Reverse Discrimination openly accepted. I know this is a pipe dream but maybe just maybe the Supreme Court Ruling today will be the beginning of the end for Affirmative Action.

Proposal to my fellow 912 Members

I would to like to propose an idea that would allow us to decide which of our representatives may be worthy enough to keep their position. For awhile now I’ve been working on the premise that we would like to kick all the bums out. I have however come to the unfortunate conclusion that this is an unlikely scenario. Working on this premise I have been trying to come up with a litmus test of sorts that would allow us to know which of out current legislators are willing to work with us the 912er’s
I think it would be in our best interests if we keep it simple at first. Start small with manageable bites. Perhaps a list of 3 items that they are willing to work towards on behalf of change WE (the912er’s) can believe in. This is a list of items I propose; please feel free to share your thoughts.

1. To introduce or endorse a bill that would bring Term Limits

2. To introduce or endorse a bill that would bring true Election Finance Reform.

  • This should include measures that would end Lobbyist influence. I would be OK with a measure that would end all paid lobbying.
  • A mandate that would make it easier for multiple candidates to run in all Federal Elections by making public funding options available and required for all candidates. This would erase the advantage of Independently wealthy individuals and those who are well connected from having an upper hand in elections.
  • A rule that would require News Networks to give equal coverage to all candidates. They could of course opt out and provide no coverage if they choose. But if they broadcast a 5 minute story on 1 they need to provide 5 minutes to all, period.

3. To respect the 9 principles and 12 values

When I first came up with these I was afraid I may have bitten more than can be chewed. But the more I go over it I can’t shorten this list at all. If a candidate cannot agree to these 3 simple requests they don’t deserve our support. We need a plan; I say we distribute a letter to all our Congressman and Senators making these requests and promising to field a candidate who will if they won’t.

Cheers,

Mike

What is the real cost of a "Cap and Trade Act" Clean Energy & Climate Bill?

Even if we use the ultra low estimate of "a postage stamp a day or $170 a year", That amounts to $7000 per household by the year 2050. Many sources have confirmed that if the Act works it will reduce the climate by a few tenths of a degree by that same year. Does 7 Grand sound like a good deal for a few tenths of a Degree?

If the Heritage Foundations estimates are correct it could double the average homes electricity bill and increase gas bills by over 50%. That would be allot more than $7000 by 2050. These figures don't say anything about the job situation. The Obama administration would have us believe that Green Jobs are going to save us. What about the jobs we will lose when big Manufactures move out to avoid this new huge cap and trade expense?

This is the same exact plan Spain tried. It failed, badly. something like 1 in 10 jobs created in Spain were sustained. We would need to create a sustainable job for each and every job the U.S. is going to lose just to stay even. Since no one knows which companies will leave the U.S. there is simply no way to determine yet if this will be the case. This of course also mean there is no way to determine if we will grow jobs as President Obama has promised.

Cheers.

H.R. 2454 Climate Change & Energy Bill Passed, Shit!

This could be the most dangerous piece of Legislation (All 1100 pages of it) that has passed the house in a long, long time. The amazing thing that I still can't get my arms around is how many people are falling for it. Just like everything else of late it's a huge emergency. We need to do it right now or else.

Politicians have had the idea of Cap and Trade for some time now, it's not a new idea and they couldn't get it done before. Now the Congress and the White House are both controlled by Democrats and they're hiding the same Cap and Trade BS in a Climate Change Bill. A bill that does very little (2 tenth of a degree) if anything to actually help Climate Change. And that's only if you buy into the man made climate change theory, which has not been proven as of yet. There is plenty of evidence and many Scientific People who suggest Climate Change is a naturally occurring part of our planets life cycle. Add to that the data that show our planet has been in a decade long span of cooling, and it begins to scream that the science is unclear.

The effects this bill will have on us the American People, if it gets through the Senate are just as unclear. What is clear however is that we the Tax Payers are going to pay for it. How much it's going to cost is the real question. Some suggest that those costs will amount to a postage stamp a day. Some think it could literally double some of our Utility Bills. Either way, why is legislation being pushed through when there are so many unanswered questions? This is yet another fine example of legislators wheeling and dealing, doing what will benefit themselves over what will benefit us.

If you're concerned about this Legislation I would urge you to contact your Senators and make your feelings known.

Gov. Sanford

Is Fidelity an important ingredient in effective governance? Why do these issues with politicians personal lives become so important to us? Is it really just the media that makes it into a story?

Governor Sanford is not the first and he certainly won't be the last. Many high profile politicians have strayed and lived to tell about it even though a few have lost their careers over it. Either way when ever it happens it seems that we can't get enough of the story. We want to know all the where, why and whens we can get our paws on. Or do we?

Me for one, couldn't care less. I was tired of the Sanford story after I heard he went to Argentina. I was less interested when I heard his wife already knew about it. So she asked him to stop seeing her? He didn't, that's a personal matter between them. The real concern here if any should be the lack of judgment he showed not being in contact with anyone. The media however is treating this story like the fidelity issue is the most important concern in our country right now. Why?

Clinton didn't inhale, then he did not have sexual relations with that women. How many other women did Clinton NOT have sex with? JFK was known to have a taste for blonds. Lyndon Johnson had a fling or two a no one at that time even hardly batted an eye. And those are just the first few that popped into my head.

We learned a few important things with the Clinton scandal.

  1. Sex sells. How many news days were created because Monica had a "Stain" on her dress.
  2. It does not ruin a political career. Bill is just as hot now as ever, and standing by her man hasn't hurt Hilary either.
  3. Children do learn from what they see on T.V. After the Clinton ordeal the incidence of teens and adolescents experimenting with oral sex and foreplay skyrocketed, because it's not sex. When surveyed they would even tell you so.

The way I see it, the media likes to make a much larger deal out these things than they need to. Especially when it involves conservatives. Imagine a hypothetical situation. Barney Frank is having a relationship with a another man who is running a prostitution ring out of Barneys Washington residence, would the media make a huge story out of it? Oh wait that already happened, oops.

I don't know, I'm not saying people don't have a right to know when this stuff happens. I'm simply suggesting that it should be reported plainly and simply and let the voters decide. If a person is doing a good job in public office I don't really care who he or she is having sex with. If they aren't doing a good job we should vote them out again despite who he or she is having sex with. If fidelity is an important issue to you, then don't vote for him.

Cheers,

Mike

Obama Media Dying Down

President Obama in the last week has received some of the hardest questions I have heard asked of him since he was elected to the office. The Media is finally showing signs that what some have called the "Love Affair" may finally be coming to an end. We even saw an interviewer try and trap Obama by claiming President Bush's comments suggested his actions were treacherous. Even though these tricks are not very practical it's good to see that our president is finally being treated like a president and not just a high society social lite.

President Obama also today stepped up his language on the situation in Iran. Finally!!! I think he only did it because John McCain was getting very vocal on how soft he had been since the Iranian election. It's hard to imagine we elected this man as president. It takes 12 days of riots where peacefully protesters are bullied and beaten, a women is shot and possibly many more than reported are dead. To compare this to how Regan handled situations is really a joke.

Hot dog Diplomacy, Really!!! Regan is rolling in his grave.

Credit Checks for Jobs

This issue has been a problem for many people already for a long time. Now however more than ever before, I think the policy of employers using credit checks in their decision making in regards to job applicants is down right wrong. More now than ever before people who need a job are likely to have blemished credit. These individuals are some of the most in need. Now they are going to have an ever more difficult time to find work if they happened to miss a few payments. Vermilion County already knows how hard it is as the county with the highest unemployment in the state. 2007 figures show 6.3%. The City of Danville had 7.5% with our States average being 5.4% which is a half a point higher the U.S. Average. The 2009 figures will be much higher.

Most would agree that a person’s individual credit has little if any bearing on their performance with most jobs. There are some positions that deal with finance and asset management which may require such a measure but that probably doesn't cover 20% of the careers out there. Many applications for entry level positions from a majority of employers demand approval to run a credit check. Just about every company I’ve ever worked for had that disclosure on their application for even the most entry level position. Why do we need to run a credit check for a Front Desk Clerk, Housekeeper or Maintenance Engineer? Even most middle management positions have so little impact on the larger financial issues of a companies operation that individual credit performance would have no impact what so ever.

It's become so common place in fact that sources like Careerbuilder.com are now coaching people to stay on top of their credit so they can be eligible for a better job. Sure it's a good idea in general to stay on top of your credit but simply to qualify for a good job? Timothy Geitner didn't pay his taxes and he was able to land a job as the U.S. Treasury Secretary that puts him in charge of the IRS. Now average citizens all need to have good credit just to stay employed. It's about time someone takes a hard look at this practice. It may be time to put an end to this system which appears to accomplish nothing more than to place another block aid in front of Americans who want to work.

Mike

IRAN

It's really frustrating watching what's going on in IRAN. The U.S. has been waiting for a situation like this for how long? Now we get it and our leader is treating it like any other day. No strong words, nothing. Surly no physical support. Now Iran is accusing the U.S. of interfering. OK, sure.

Another thing that is really grating on my nerves today, is all the protests here in the U.S. I'm willing to bet many of the same people who are now protesting for support of the Iranian situation are the very same folks who protested against the war in Iraq. People who said the Bush Administration killed Innocent women and children. If I'm wrong and all the protesters are really 912 members and Tea Party Folks, than I'll put a Obama bumper sticker on my car, but I really doubt this is the case. When will the bleeding heart idiots realize that you can't have it both ways. You can't liberate an oppressed people without the use of intervention. If you support intervention then you can't whine about it when someone gets hurts. Choose a side and live with the consequences.

I personally support the Iranian people who want real regime change. The problem is that we don't have enough information about the Iranian people to know whether those are in the majority of not. It looks that way on T.V. It's also curious that they have signs in English. It seems that they are asking for help. Or is it that someone wants it to appear that way.

At any rate it seems like the U.S. is not coming, thanks in part to Mr. Obama's lack of leadership and also a very jaded Liberal Agenda. Think about this. How is a Liberal Controlled Government going to come to the aid of Iran when they still cry about how Bush is responsible for Iraq. They are still blaming all of our problems on Bush. They cannot possibly go to the aid of Iran without losing face.

Public Health Care is GREAT!!! really?

If only I were a Latina who lived in a Christian Nation instead of a White Latino living in one of the largest Muslim nations, I might be able to understand how so many people are following the idea that the Universal Health Care plan President Obama is pushing will be a great service to this nation. I mean anyone who can come to the conclusion that a single payer system will do anything other than destroy the private system is simply not following very closely. Look at the facts and you will see a much different story than the one being pushed by the likes of ABC News.

The idea that a single payer public option system would crush the private system was cheered here in IL when proposed by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (9th, IL), by those at a rally when it was pitched. This is the ultimate goal of the far Liberal Left. They want to see the private system fall, this would drive more (Everyone) people into the Government plan and create a situation were they depend on the Government. I don't know how much more clear I can make this. Liberals believe as Obama does, that government can do better than the private sector when allowed to control.

Understand this. I'm going to make a prediction. If this plan goes into effect, we are going to see a period of time where things are going to be great. Maybe as many as 10 years. People are going to feel Public Health Care is the best thing since sliced bread and canned beer. Liberals are going to say those stupid conservatives were trying to scare every body, and see it's all OK. Then when more and more people leave their private sector plan and move into the public sector, large providers will begin to fall. The public system will be overwhelmed.

This is when the horror will begin. Hips won't be replaced, knees follow suit. Cancer treatment for the old, sorry. This may sound like a worst cast scenario but it's really not, just look at England and Canada. This is exactly what's going there.

Here is another prediction. The people who go to Mexico for Health Care will be the smart ones. Good Doctors who actually want to make some money will move to Mexico where they can charge free market rates and be able to send some cash back to their families in the U.S.

I have a solution to the Health Care problem in this country. I have not heard anyone else speak about this so maybe I'm the first. It seems like the real issue is the expense of health care and the difficulty in obtaining it. If the Government needs to be involved why not regulate the industry a little, just enough so Insurance companies can't Cherry Pick the people they cover. Make it so they can't deny coverage simply due to pre-existing conditions. Make it so they can't jack the rates up when you do. This would make it necessary for the large providers to sign up more people in order to hedge the added cost of those who have conditions.

This would lower the cost for company plans making it easier and more accessible. This would also make it more accessible at a lower cost for people who's company didn't provide a plan. Then and only after these measures are put in place, we could create a new plan for those who still can't seem to obtain insurance. This plan would only be available to those who show evidence of not being able to obtain coverage any other way.

Cheers,

Mike

PBS to End Religious Programming!

Well Score another point for the anti-faith movement in one of the largest Muslim Countries in the world. Is this really were we as a nation are moving towards. Anyone that knows me well knows that I am not a very faithful person, but I have respect for those that do. I have no problem with those who wish to express their faith have outlets to do so, and if PBS wants to allow this there should be no restriction in place that would hinder that action.

The real question here is why now. The so-called rule has been in place for some time now. PBS has never worried themselves over it until now. Why Now? Who is making this happen?

I'm going to look closer into this one. I suggest everyone who loves freedom do the same. Maybe we can overturn the rule that's been in place for 25 years. Then PBS wouldn't have an issue at all.

Obama to give "Friends with Benefits" new meaning.

Ok, so if your heterosexual you need to be married in order to gain benefits for your F*&k buddy, sorry I mean Husband or Wife. But now if your homosexual you can get benefits for your husband or wife, or F*&k buddy. Wait a minute, how does this work?

http://tinyurl.com/mzfw2h

This is a joke. Well really, it's not. This is real!!!

Forget protecting the sanctity of Marriage. We're going to open the flood gate and let anyone you have sex with get your benefits. Is this what Obama means when he said he was against Gay Marriage. He doesn't want to see gays marry, he simply wants to give them all the perks without the commitment.

People were worried that Gay Marriage would lead to folks marrying their dogs. Well I'm thinking it might be more serious than that. How many relations are we going to give the benefits to? Does it matter if a Government Employee gives 2 or 3 or 10 partners their benefits.

Hey Barack, How about we come up with a legal standard for all first, before we start handing out benefits. I'd like to see some kind of legally recognized union before we dole out more freebies. That said I don't think we need to jump to marriage, but let's get one issue resolved before we get into another. I can't see how this would help anything. It seems to me it would only adds complication.

Gerald Walpin IG fired for crossing Obama

Gerald Walpin is fired, despite the fact there is a law which Obama sponsored as a Senator, that states an IG (Inspector General) can not be removed without a 30 day notice to Congress. Czars and now Presidential firing of an Inspector General. What's next?

If this isn't enough for you just wait five minutes. There doesn't seem to be an end to the amount of corruption the Obama administration is capable of. I mean it's kinda like they don't even acknowledge the constitution anymore. They just do what they want when they want. Now they have even blocked access to the White House guest list. Even though the Supreme Court ruled that the White House guest list is public record.

I don't even know what else to say.

Bill Mahr sticks it to Obama "This isn't what I voted for"

Finally we are starting to see some of the Liberals come out from under their rocks and admit that this Obama guy isn't what they thought he was. Bill Maher an Uber-Liberal has begun to speak out against Barack Obama's over exposure and his need to actually "do something". This is something that we have needed to see for awhile now.

I used to watch Bill Maher on Politically incorrect. I used to think he was funny. I think he slide farther to the left since then and now I can't hardly stand the guy. He's entitled to his opinion as every free American, but I think now, he's mostly just a crazy radical Left-Winger. That said him voicing his opinions now about BO is going to be positive for us over on the right side.

Teacher Tim Latham Fired

If a teacher can be fired for being to Conservative we have a real problem in this country. Well the problem really seems to be that so many teachers lean to left on most political issue. Why is that? I think it may have something to do with the heavy unionization of the teachers in general.

I think it's evident that we have a huge problem when during the last election cycle we heard story after story of incidents involving Conservative views being silenced. We heard the story of the Child who wore a McCain Shirt and was told to turn it inside out because it was causing a disturbance in class. We heard about the Students who debated with their professors, supporting the conservative side of arguments and then getting reduced grades. Now a teacher is not renewed. A teacher who was asked, "How can you support that women"? Referring to Sarah Palin. And told he simply didn't fit in here. The same teacher who was told his website was TOO patriotic.
(Does that mean his site had many links about the joy in paying taxes?)

Where were all the stories about students who got in trouble for wearing Obama Shirts? Where where all the stories of the students who supported Obama and received lower grades. Where was the evidence that our schools slant to right right side of the political spectrum? I remember Charming videos or Students Singing "Change" and "Yes we Can" in class and the Schools who supported this. I personally witnessed in my home town, Schools who had all kinds of Obama literature and stories posted everywhere. Missing were the stories about McCain.

As long as we allow our schools to indoctrinate our students we are going to keep moving towards total Liberal Control. We need to pay close attention to those who have a impact on the development of our Children. This does not just simply include the Grammar Schools and High Schools. You need to research the College your sons and Daughters want to go off to. The Universities are filled with this kind of indoctrination.

We need more teachers like Mr. Latham, not fewer.

David Letterman Fired, come on really?

What David Lettererman said about Sarah Palins 14 years old Daughter and the comments he made about Sarah Palin herself were down right deplaurable. I have made several comments about these jokes myself, and I think perhaps they deserve an appolgy. People need to speak out and make it known that these kinds of things are not funny. Especailly making sexually expliciate jokes about a 14 year old girl or even a Governor.

Many people have now tried to defend Letterman saying he thought it was the older daughter. Well I don't believe it. MAYBE the writers didn't realize the younger daughter was with Palin, maybe. But Letterman was all to willing to throw the joke out there. Even if he thought it was the older daughter that doesn't make the joke any more tasteful.

The real injustice here is that the Liberal Media makes these kind of of statements ALL THE TIME! Just recently Playboy released 2 Top 10 Lists. The Hate F*ck List http://tinyurl.com/n6er93
(Which has been pulled due to negative spin)

And Also a list of Men to Lorena Bobbatize.

These are obviously very crude atempts at social satire, which can be very destructive as they are basically wish lists for fantasy assult.

As much as I don't like to see this stuff I'm not sure that we need to see people lose their jobs over it, well at least by way of being fired. These people as ridicoulous as they are, can share this kind of hateful ignorant speech if they must. They can use the shield of comedy and satire if they wish. It's up to us as citizens to decide what is acceptable and choose our entertainers and commentators accordinly. If they loose their jobs it should be becasue no one is watching them anymore. When you decide to read news, make sure you are only getting facts and not spin. When you catch a news outlet adding spin to news you should choose another news outlet. Commentators or course have a little more lattitude as they are people paid for their opinion. But even these individuals have a responsibility to be fair and not use prejudice. When they do, it's us that gives them the abiliity to continue.

Rachel Maddow called me and those like me Tea Baggers. She went out of her way to paint a nasty picture of Tea Party Particapiants going soo far as to calling us all racists. This is obviously a distoration. She is entitled to her opinion but when she inacuratly spins the movement she losses credibility.

Madonna uses her stage venue to share her hate of Sarah Palin. Rappers follow suit.

David Letterman makes sexual jokes about 14 year old.

The wrong way to handle this is to demand they be fired. This only harms freedom of speech and is a commom tool used by the Liberal Left when they choose to point fingers at the other side. When we see this stuff WE need to STOP supporting them. When their cash flow dries up and only when this happens will they realize the mistake they've made.

Book Review for Fleeced by Dick Morris & Eileen McGann

A new idea of mine, is start giving brief reviews of books I enjoyed. This is my first one, I hope you find it useful/informative.

Fleeced is good piece of work for those who might want an eye opening account of how politics really works in this country. It focuses on the 2008 presidential Campaign and events that have lead up to it. As the title suggests the book focuses on how People are fleeced by politicians and the tricks they use to pull the wool over our eyes. Dick Morris is a political insider who once was a political consultant for the Clinton Administration. He also has worked as a Pollster and currently as a Commentate and Contributor.

This edition takes a close look at how events have effected our lives and makes predictions on how our history will unfold if Liberals retake control. It explains how the media has used their power to distort and control the the perception of the American people. Also, it explains the true power of big business, big labour and the even larger Lobbyists.

Give this one a try if you're in between reads and looking for something different. Fleeced might be the next book for you.

Government corruption on every level

My wife has been researching the history and background of some old buildings here in Danville, IL and has found some puzzling information. It seems something is awry. There are many old buildings in various states of disrepair which no one seems to do anything about. These buildings are continually singled out as eye sores and the owners as being irresponsible and inattentive to the needs of their property.

Here is where it gets weird. Many other buildings in town are in similar or worse shape. No one mentions anything about these buildings. Under normal circumstances this goes unnoticed but now that investigation is being done it comes out that many of the buildings no one complains about are owned by a tight group of individuals either directly or indirectly connected to city government. Many pieces of property which have been sold ended up in the hands of some of these very same individuals.

This may be a coincidence but I doubt it. We have contacts connected directly to some of these people who tell a completely different story. In fact I personally know the manager of one of the buildings in question. This individual confirms some very strange practices.

I apologize for the vague details, but I am not ready to ruffle any feathers. I may in a future piece when I have more facts to work with.

The real point here is to emphasize the idea that we all need to pay attention to what's going on. Sometimes everything seems normal until you look just a little closer. We need to start within our cities and towns and not just be worried about the federal government. The corruption doesn't start with the federal government. By the time most reach that level they have already honed their shady skills in the lower levels of government. So pay attention, don't vote blindly and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Mike

Should health care be a right?

Today I heard an explanation of universal health care as a "right" that made me think. Those who believe Health Care is a right must then believe they own some part of someone Else's time and or income. If you are owed Health Care, someone has to pay for it. and someone needs to provide it. Do you follow me on this?

Those individuals who are going around gathering support for Health Care because it's a "right" need to have this explanation made clear to them. There is no such thing as free health care. Someone needs to pay and someone needs to provide the service. The people who think it's free simply don't understand this.

Maybe the taxes on all those greedy rich will cover it? Sadly I don't think there's enough wealth in the country to keep this one alive. I only hope we don't bankrupt the country before the Liberals realize what a mistake this is. I'm not going to hold my breath.

Obama Bank Salary Cap is Dead

At least for now it seems an idea that would do nothing more than harm the overall profitability of our financial system is dead. It's hard to imagine how anyone thought putting a cap on executive salaries would have helped. FDR tried using this policy within his New Deal and it fell flat. It did nothing more than to ensure mediocrity within an organization. Those who are worth more than a cap will allow simply move elsewhere either geographically or to another industry.

Presbo actually said a couple of months ago that we could fill executive positions will newly graduated MBA's at 100K. If you know anything about the business world, you know a good prospective MBA will not work for 100K anymore. One that will, probably is not that hot of a prospect. If you had to build a business or heaven forbid, rebuild a business would you want to hire someone just out of school with zero experience? Well I guess if you voted for an inexperienced man for president of the U.S. than you might.

Letter to the RNC

I borrowed this from a fellow 912 member.

To the RNC:
I have answered your question in regards to 2009 Republican Party
Census Document. I am unwilling to contribute financially to the
Republican Party at this time due to the following reasons:
1.I believe the current leadership of the party has strayed from the
people that support it.
2.I believe that current leadership has lost sight of the values and
principles of the people who support them.
3.I can not see any difference between the Republican Party and the
Democratic Party at this time.
4.I believe that there are too many Republican Elected Officials that
are more interested in retaining their elected office then they are in
representing the people that elected them.
5.I believe there are too many Republican Elected Officials that are
only interested in what power they can gain.
Until the Republican Party has candidates that are willing to run on
honesty, values, and principles I am unwilling to give my hard earned
money to support the current way business is being done.
There is a great many of us out here that are dissatisfied with how
our country is being destroyed. Some of us have decided to not just
vote party the line anymore, we will be researching and watching all
potential candidates to determine the best candidate for the job. I am
willing to vote for Republican Candidates that show honesty, values,
and principles it is your job to provide these candidates.

FEMA to use Foriegn Assistance in Exercise

The Liberals cried when the Bush administration FEMA used Blackwater in New Orleans. Now this??? US Soldiers alone might not follow certain orders, where Foreign Soldiers would have no issue at all. Sure they say this is for terrorism prevention from outside the U.S. But if terrorism happens outside the U.S. why do we need Foreign troops here. Wouldn't they have their hands full in their own countries? Wouldn't we just shut our borders? Doesn't it make more sense that this type of exercise would be more for something intenal? Kinda sounds to me like they might be preparing for that armed revolt some are talking about.

Can you imagine what would happen?

Hypothetical situation:
> The US People rise up against thier government demanding leaders step down.
> BO calls in armed resistance
> Our Soldiers refuse to fire on Citizens
> FEMA brings in the backup from other nations

Scared yet?

OK, OK go ahead call me insane. I'm not really one of the "Nut Jobs" out there but this kind of thing could happen. Those people who are sitting comfy at home thinking this is imposable and will NEVER happen are just as Nutty as those insisting it should and will happen.

I'm just suggesting that we think about things a little before we make a snap decision one way or the other.

Sarah Palin has been cleared of all charges.

http://tinyurl.com/lxsoxj

Unless you follow MSNBC or the Huffington Post. They do not have a single item listing Sarah Palins innocence. They were all over the stories about her being investigated, but now that she is cleared, not a single word.

The Huffington Post actually has stories about her toenails if you do a random search for Sarah Palin. How Sarah has her toes painted. Her toes, her hot, sexy, sweet little.,.,..,.,., Um I mean yeah her toes. OMG, this is news?

Religious Liberty

“We only have two problems in Washington; elements on the left who want the state to control the church, and elements on the right who want the church to control the state."

- James Standish, 2004

Why is it that it's always one way or the other when it comes to religion? Where's the compromise? The founders of this country obviously had a strong belief in god but they also had a strong belief that a church should not be in charge of the government. I don't know if the republicans really wants the church to control, the nor do I claim that the democrats want to control the church. But it seems that too much religion gets mixed into our politics these days.

Everyone has the right to freely choose his or her own religious belief. When it comes to policy however I don't believe that a person should use his or her own belief to mandate what others can or can't do. For instance, I respect life. I could not suggest to anyone an abortion. But I would not forbid someone from doing so because I don't believe that it's right. That is exactly the type of situation that we as a country need to understand is dangerous.

I know many who read this will disagree with me but please consider what would happen if each and every important decision for our society was based on a religious belief or the bible. Who's belief would we choose from, which bible, the Koran maybe? We are one the largest Muslim countries, right? "LOL" And there lies the problem with that frame of mind. Obama says, we are one the largest Muslim Countries, does that make it so? Of course not, but if we mandate that a church or set of beliefs rule the land, then we are in for allot of trouble.

If you don't believe in abortion, the best and single most powerful thing you can do, is to not have one. Protest if you must, but don't protest with the goal of mandating for someone else. Protest with the goal of changing someones mind.

Camping

I came to a realization this weekend while camping under the stars at kickapoo. Some of the most simple and natural things in life are the most enjoyable. I doubt many politicians go camping or speak to many that do. I doubt many spend any real time outdoors. I suggest this is the reason that Chuck Shumer and his buddies on the Hill don't think americans really care about pork. He hasn't spent much time with many real americans. Only the ones who wish to benefit from the pork.

I believe another reason for this lack of understanding is that career politicians are
always simply doing whatever is necessary to get re-elected. This constant bid for re-election puts them into postion to dote upon those who provide funding while ignoring real americans. This in my opinion is one of the largest problems with our current system of government.

True funding reform and term limits for congress seem to be two areas of our current system that could only improve matters. Individuals who wish nothing more than to be in a postion to make policy are the last people who should be trusted with the responsibility. Only persons who will reside and work with others who must live with those policies are best suited for the task.

The founding fathers created possibly the greatest system of government imaginable. A system of government were the people truly have the power. A system with a Federal government only as strong as necessary to keep us safe from foreign danger. We have let it morph into something much like the systems found overseas. Systems which have failed.

The fathers never imagined that a free people would willingly move towards a system with less freedom. A system much like the one the original colonies fled from. A system with a direction if not changed will only lead to history repeating itself once more. I'm not a political scientist but I venture to guess that the situations going on right now will be viewed by future historians as a turning point in the american experiment.

(It's amazing what thoughts can be stimulated with a little fresh air, clear sky and a camp fire.)

Government Spending

Am I the only one who grew up with parents who tried to teach me that spending more than you make is not a good idea? Did everyone else have parents who spent 3 or 30 times more than they made and taught their Kids to do so is good and patriotic? I mean really? I listen to and read financial experts who constantly preach about lower debt load and putting savings in the bank. But this is exactly the opposite of what we as a country are doing right now.

I have no idea how true this is but I Heard on T.V. the U.S. has borrowed more money in the last 6 months than they did in the last 30 years combined. Whether this is exactly true or not it's no secret that out spending has grown. If you include all the stimulus and bail outs as well as the increased budget obligations it wouldn't surprise me if the stat was true. Think about this. China is buying most of the bonds from the US right now. What do you think this means?

Can you imagine a presidential administration from Regan's era or earlier that would even allow a foreign country to be so heavily invested in the U.S. much less a communist one?

Is this what freedom has become? Soon we are all going to be eating
chow-mien and speaking mandarin.

ACORN

Man, I've been watching the ACORN story on Glenn Beck this week and it's really eye opening. I've known for a while that something was wrong with that organization but I had no idea how twisted the whole thing is. Today I'm just going to go over a Preamble from Acorns own website. This can found at http://www.acorn.org/index.php?id=2706

(From this point forward the red text represents the ACORN Preamble the black text my comments)

We stand for a People's Platform, as old as our country,(ACORN was founded in 1970) and as young as our dreams. We come before our nation, not to petition with hat in hand,(Besides the money they receive from tax dollars they have a donation link right on their home page) but to rise as one people and demand.
We have waited and watched. We have hoped and helped. We have sweated and suffered. We have often believed. We have frequently followed.
But we have nothing to show for the work of our hand, the tax of our labor. Our patience has been abused; our experience misused. Our silence has been seen as support.(If Acorn is silent I would hate to see what happens when they make noise) Our struggle has been ignored.
Enough is enough. We will wait no longer for the crumbs at America's door. We will not be meek, but mighty. We will not starve on past promises, but feast on future dreams.

No longer waiting for crumbs, no longer implies that they have waited for the crumbs but are now no longer satisfied with what's left over they now want more. It sounds to me like they are admitting to the desire to use force in order to feast with someone Else's wealth.
We are an uncommon people. We are the majority, forged from all minorities.

We are the masses of many, not the forces of few. We will continue our fight until the American way is just one way, until we have shared the wealth, until we have won our freedom.
So they intend to gather their strength joined from the minorities of the Country in order to force the wealth being shared. Spreading the wealth around sounds familiar doesn't it? Does this sound like democracy to you?
This is not a simple vision, but a detailed plan.
Our plan is to build an American reality from the American rhetoric(American Rhetoric! What do they mean? "Holding truth to be self-evident that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator, with certain unalienable rights, like Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness") , to deliver a piece of the present and the fruits of the future to every man, to every woman, to every family.
We demand our birthright: the chance to be rich, the right to be free.

(No one said they can't be rich, Work for it! Be free and don't rely on others for your direction. That's what freedom means, freedom is not being on welfare, freedom is not being on section 8, freedom is not relying on food stamps. These programs help people yes, but they do not create freedom. Being Rich is not the same as being free, many so-called rich people have debt and mortgages and this is just as much a lack of freedom as a person on Section 8 who gets food stamps. You must aspire to be self sufficient in order to be truly free.)
Our riches shall be the blooming of our communities, the bounty of a sure livelihood, the beauty of homes for our families with sickness driven from the door, the benefit of our taxes rather than their burden, (The benefit of taxes and not their burden, wait some need to pay taxes in order for all to benefit. If no one pays no one benefits. All who pay are burdened, so this is a paradox is it not. You can't have one without the other. what they mean I think is that they wish to benefit without the burden, they will leave the burden to those so-called rich people and the corporations who should only exist to make ACORN happy.)and the best of our energy, land, and natural resources for all people.
Our freedom is the force of democracy, not the farce of federal fat and personal profit.(Again, you need personal profit in order to be truly free.) In our freedom, only the people shall rule. Corporations shall have their role; producing jobs, providing products, paying taxes. No more, no less. They shall obey our wishes, respond to our needs, serve our communities. Our country shall be the citizens' wealth and our wealth shall build our country.
Government shall have its role:

(So they are directly saying Corporations should follow ACORN's demands and Government will lead. They are also saying Corporations should not be allowed to make a profit. "No more no less" How would you take this?)
public servant to our good, fast follower to our sure steps. No more, no less. Our government shall shout with the public voice and no longer to a private whisper. (The government has been bowing to large lobbyists for a long time now, what the heck do they mean private whisper?) In our government, the common concerns shall be the collective cause.
We represent a people's platform, not a politician's promise.(Well actually Obama got elected because of people like ACORN, and he did on nothing more than promises!)
We demand the changes outlined in our platform and plan. We will work to win. We will have our birthright. (What is your birthright?) We will live in richness and freedom.(with the burden of taxes, benefiting from those who pay) We will live in one country as one people

(Do I have to stay? Can I move while I'm still allowed?)

Obama today

Well I think that his speech today may be the first one I felt was
real, even if he used a teleprompter. He may have tried a bit too
hard to paint a cheery picture of the Islamic faith and culture, but
at it's root Islam is an inspirational faith. It gets dark and twisted
when those who wish to do harm turn it into something that it's not.

I think the most important part of his words today, was the strong
support of Israel. He needed to do this as Israel and many Jews
around the world were beginning to feel as if a Barack Obama U.S.
wouldn't have their back if Israel goes at it with Iran. I question
how much strength his words regarding a Palestine state have? Bush
and Clinton both said just about the same things, I guess we'll see.

Overall he could have been a bit stronger in his language. I'm sure there
are those who will come out with serious criticism over his words
today but I think it's a cut above the rest so far. At least he
didn't apologize for America again.

Even if the U.S. is not REALLY one of the largest Muslim states in the
world as he said yesterday, I think this speech will play well for the
the U.S. and the rest of the World alike.

I hope this signals a change in his swagger regarding foreign policy
but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The War on Drugs

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how much money we spend on this "War on Drugs". The government completely ignores the fact that they could turn a huge expense into a revenue stream. I loved much of what Regan did during his time in office but one thing I am not a fan of however, is how he increased spending on this idea we can eliminate drug use in America. Drug use has only increased and spending on this war along with it. I know a lot of Conservatives don't like to hear that "Being more moderate" is the answer. But this is an issue that I think could only help their cause, otherwise the Dems are going to take the ball and run with it unless Ron Paul ever gets elected to higher Office.

Many who are against the idea claim that legalization would only increase usage and cause problems in our society. Considering we would be spending money on treatment instead of simply incarcerating those who indulge, more people might actually get the help they need rather than simply sitting in prison. People after all will do what they will do. Let's save money on this "War", direct law enforcement to more pressing matters and make some money in the process.

Alcohol was banned but came back after we realized how much tax revenue we lost.

Why not Marijuana?

Will the real Collin Powell please stand up?

I would like to hear from Colin Powell himself on why he seems to have shifted his loyalty so far the the left. Does he consider himself a Democrat now? I've been hearing and reading allot lately about how he went with Obama because he's black. There has got to be more than just race at play. Powell was on the Regan Team as well as Both Bush Teams. The Obama team is so far in the other direction that something has to give.

Colin Powell could very well have been President of U.S. had he chosen to run. He declined after declaring himself a Republican in 1995. He won the Vice Presidential Primary in New Hampshire based on Write-in votes (A race he did not officially run in). In 2000 He campaigned for John McCain, but then supported Bush after he won the primary. Why did he not support John McCain again? Was it simply race? Or is there something else?

We know politically Powell has been a Moderate on Military issues. If you believe some of the stories that have gone around like scenes from the Movie "W", he was not happy about how Bush Jr. handled Iraq. If true he did not like the approach Cheney pushed though and Believed the U.S. going back to Iraq was a bad idea. Was he in fact so upset about how it all turned out that he decided to stick it to his party? Did he feel like he was used a pawn?

There are allot of questions that need to be clarified before we hang Mr. Powell out to dry. Many of these can only be answered by him, so let's give him the chance to set the record straight before we pack and ship him off to the Democrats.

Cheers,

Mike

Why not, Civil Unions?

The real problem with the Gay Marriage issue is that Marriage is a
religious institution. It has deep roots in the bible. Many
organized religions have very specific ideals on marriage. The issue
we face today is not simply equal rights as many liberals would have
you believe. But in fact it's about rights of the church. Many angry
gays who just want revenge on the religious community for their
treatment wish to force the issue of marriage onto the church. I did
say many, not ALL. There are plenty of gay people who would be happy
to simply have equal treatment in all 50 states namely the ability to
share their lives with a chosen mate and to share the same privileges
and tax incentive as well.

Gays deserve to get all the same privileges and I think most people
are with me on this one. I don't think there are many folks saying
otherwise. The real fear here is that once they get "marriage" it
will only be a few minutes before some wild activist couple will walk
into a Catholic Church and say, "marry us". The Catholic Church will
of course say no, and then the next step will be a lawsuit claiming
discrimination based on sex. This is where the issue lies. We can't
let those in the gay community who wish to force churches into
accepting gay marriage win.

Now those who support gay marriage argue that they don't want to
change marriage they only want to add to it. The issue here again is
that marriage is at its root a religious institution that has become
as generic as the facial tissue, "Kleenex". The problem is that many
years ago people who wanted to be together but did not want to belong
to a church went to the courthouse and got "MARRIED" The Government
decided that they were going to issue "Marriage" certificates. What
they should have done was to recognize that the State had no right in
the Marriage business. They should have issued some sort of Civil
Union Certificate from the very beginning to all people who did not
want to get joined by the Church.

It seems to me that the only answer here to make all happy is for the
government to come up with a Civil Union for all people and assign a
certificate that gives the legally binding side of the arrangement and
then allow each church to grant marriages as they see fit. This would
ease the tension for those who defend the churches right to protect
their traditional values at the same time it gives Homosexuals the
same legal rights as Heterosexuals.
