Drugs

Diazepam (AKA Valium) is used to relieve anxiety and to control agitation. It is often used by people to calm their nerves.

Marijuana (AKA Weed or Grass) is also used to relieve anxiety and control agitation. It's often used by people to calm their nerves.

Diazepam has a list of known side effects which include:
drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, dry mouth, nausea and changes in appetite.

Marijuana has a list of known side effects which include:
drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, dry mouth, nausea and changes in appetite.

Diazepam is a chemical cocktail made my Pharmaceutical companies.

Marijuana is all natural and grows in the dirt with the help of sunlight and water.

Diazepam is legal and people who use it are considered treated.

Marijuana is illegal and people who use it are considered thugs and criminals.

Do you see the problem with the war on Drugs?

Free Cell Phones

Life Wireless (AKA Free Government Cell Phones) is now setting up free cell phone tents to promote the free government cell phones. It's not enough that they are sending advertisements in the weekly circulars, now they actually have people who are going out into the community and hawking cell phones paid for by the taxpayers. The only requirements are that you qualify for one of the following.

■Low Income Home Energy Assistance Plan (LIHEAP)
■Medicaid
■Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
■Food Stamps
■Section 8 Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
■Senior Citizen Low-Income Discount Plan (offered by the local gas or power company)
■Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
■Income at or below 135% of federal poverty level* (proof required)

Aren't you glad you pay taxes?

Bloody Pink Ribbons

The Susan G. Komem charity decided they will in fact give grants to Planned Parenthood, the very same organization that helps women, especially young women and underage girls, obtain abortions. Of course they are free to make this decision just as people are free to stop donating money and wearing those ridiculous pink ribbons. Unless you want to instead wear these ribbons.

I propose this new blood stained ribbon, to symbolize your lack of support for the Susan G. Komen charity.

Danville's amazing new $1.2 Million Parking Lot.

Any day now new families and businesses will be moving into Danville now that we are going to have a brand new $1.2 Million "Green" Parking Lot. This parking lot is going to be the catalyst for growth that Danville has been waiting for, or at least that's how it was sold Tuesday night at the City Council meeting. Some would actually have you believe that this brand new High School parking lot is going to help bring in new families and increase property values. Never mind that a brand new Parking lot constructed of traditional means would only cost a quarter of the $1.2 Million projection, this brand new and untested "Green" technology is the icing on the Boondoggle cake that our Federal Government and the climate change community would have us all eating if they had their way.

The EPA just started testing this type of technology in 2009 to see if any positive environmental effects could been seen. They replaced a 43,000-square-foot section of the parking lot at its Edison, NJ facility with three different types of permeable pavement for the study which was slated for a 10 year period. This means the EPA is only 2 years into it's official study, meanwhile they are handing out hundreds of thousands of dollars to any Tom, Dick and city who is willing to spend similar funds implementing something that might or might not actually work.

Not only is this "Green" parking lot going to cost the tax payers $1.2 Million to construct but it will require costly maintenance and cleaning that was only touched on during the meeting. I for one will not be shocked if this maintenance adds tens of thousands in extra cost to the city over the life of the lot. This is only the beginning, if we allow it to continue, this trend in smoke and mirrors "Green" technology will continue to consume our resources and give the government more of an excuse to continue raising taxes.

I urge anyone who agrees with this to share their opinions with their local leaders. We need to prevent the spread of this kind of irrational thinking and spending.

Cheers,

Mike

Today is the 40th birthday of the fiat currency known as the U.S. Dollar

ON August 15th in 1971 President Richard Nixon announced that the U.S. would no longer officially trade dollars for gold. Gold was worth $35 per ounce when they made this announcement. The currency had already been going thru a period of debasement for about 6 years due to the high costs of Gold and silver and the ever increasing costs of running the United States of America. Today that policy turns 40 years old and marks the first prolonged period in the last two thousand years that man has not used currency based on precious metals. Brian Domitrovic of Forbes says, this is a "new era of human history". Is he right?

Well This certainly is true. We know have gold north of $1600 and silver sitting right where Gold sat back in 1971. Is that bizarre, it should be.

Meet the Super Committee

These are the 12 people who could possibly lead us into a dictatorship. The 12 cronies and yes men (and yes woman), hand picked by Boehner, Pelosi, Reid and McConnell. These folks will be given unconstitutional power that exceeds the normal power granted to members of Congress.

The Democrats: Representatives James Clyburn, Chris Van Hollen and Xavier Becerra Senators Patty Murray, John Kerry and Max Baucus.

The Republicans: Representatives Dave Camp, Fred Upton and Jeb Hensarling. Senators Jon Kyl, Pat Toomey and Rob Portman.

This is a spectacular representation of the disconnected and disaffected folks in Washington. You've got the the Country Club crowd, Limousine Liberals and two faced politicians of the people like Patty Murray who goes out and publicly attacks the Koch Brothers while secretly soliciting campaign donations from them. This is the group that is charged with saving the economy by finding the needed cuts.

Keep in mind that there is no official role for this group and no guidelines as to what they can or can't do. This group will be able to fast track any legislation they see fit, as long they agree on it. There is also no hard set expiration date for this committee. It scares the heck out of me, I hope it scares you as well.

Cheers,

Mike

Illinois Dairy License set to destroy more small business

Kris Swanberg the founder and owner of Nice Cream, a boutique ice cream maker in Chicago, IL learned last week how hard it is to be a small business in Illinois. The Department of Public Health informed her she would have to shut down if she didn't obtain a " Dairy License." What does this mean for her business? In order to continue under the new rules she would need to adhere to the following.

  • "Obtain her own work space. Currently they work out of the Logan Square Kitchen."
  • "Have product tested once a month for bacterial levels."
  • "Change all of the packaging and labels to meet state standards."
  • "Purchase a  $40,000 pasteurizer"
The IDPH officer who visited told her that her ice cream probably wouldn’t pass the bacteria tests if she continued to use fresh strawberries. Instead the officer suggested she use "strawberry syrup",  Swanberg told a Chicago Tribune interviewer.  The following is taken right from the Nice Cream website.

"Nice Cream is a seasonal ice cream handcrafted right here in Chicago, IL.  We use fresh & organic ingredients from local farms that treat their animals with love and respect."

Using Strawberry syrup and ice cream mix would completely change her product and her business model.  What's worse is that the these regulations are on the same level as those enforced on large ice cream makers.  No small operator can afford to compete on this level, nor do they want to.  That's the idea of natural and organic producers.  They cater to a group of people who go out of their way to buy products that are not processed and pasteurized.

Unless legislative changes are made Nice Cream will soon no longer be available for purchase and yet one more small business will be put to rest.  What's worse is that boutique organic ice cream is an industry in Chicago.  This change threatens not only Nice Cream but all of the providers who produce handcrafted ice cream.  This also begs to ask the question, why has only Nice Cream been targeted so far by the IDPH?   Is this the kind of  action that we look for from our State Government?

If you live in Illinois and agree that this type of action is ridiculous please let your State Representatives know how you feel.

Mike

Another 513 Point Drop of the DOW

We needed to pass a Debt Deal quick, quick, in a hurry, to prevent the markets from falling.

I guess they were wrong.

After today, the market has lost all of the 2011 gains.

Are you surprised? I'm not.

Let the spending begin!!!

Now that we have a brand new debt deal the economy should rebound right? Well the very next day the DOW Jones average fell 265 points and gold shot up $40 an ounce. Not exactly the type of reaction one would expect from a debt deal that supposedly was saving us from a catastrophic default.

Just as Washington was announcing the new Debt Deal the Bank of Korea announced the purchase of 25 tons of gold over the last two months. This marks the country's first gold purchase in 13 years. Central banks tend to buy gold when they need to diversify their holdings and are not necessarily market timed. Not only has Korea increased their holding recently but so has Kazakhstan, Russia and Thailand.

Why are they increasing their gold holding? Well I think the answer is simple. The U.S. Dollar is heading into very treacherous territory. The debt deal doesn't solve anything. NOTHING!!! The debt ceiling is going up and spending will continue to rise right along with it. To fully understand what the Congress just did, look at this graph provided by the Cato Institute.

Every single Congressman and Senator who says this deal is a step in the right direction is flat out lying to you.

If they start talking about another round of Quantitative Easing (QE3) remember you were warned. This government will continue to borrow, spend and create money until there is no value left in the U.S. Dollar.

Cut the Spending!!!

Spending needs to be cut. Plain and simple, It needs to be cut… The Debt ceiling does not need to be raised. Plain and simple, it does not need to be raised.

There will be no default if spending is cut. The Soldiers and all the seniors will still get paid.

I couldn’t care less about a balanced budget amendment, it will take years to get that done anyway and we don’t have time for that fight right now. We need to focus on the Spending.

SPENDING!!! The only thing I want Washington to be looking at is Spending. That’s it. Forget about the Amendment, forget about increased revenue. Cut the Spending. How much more simple can I make this?

I will be watching this very closely and plan to weight my voting decisions heavily on how this situation is handled.

Cut the Spending!!!

Thank you,

I wrote the check even though the money isn't in the bank!!!

I added $161,650.00 dollars to by budget so I could purchase a new Porsche 911 Turbo S. It's really a sweet ride, I've always wanted a 911 for as long as I can remember and now I'm finally going to get it. I put it in my budget and I wrote a check for it, dated August 20th. I know the money isn't in the bank and I know the money will not be in the bank on August 20th but I've committed to buy the car anyway so I guess it can't be stopped now unless I go into default.

These things can't be helped. The bank will need to increase my debt limit so I can make good on the debts I've incurred.

Wish me luck..

Super Congress, really???

What will they think of next? Every time John Boehner starts to reassure me he comes up with another idea that makes me cringe. Boehner supports a plan conceived by Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid. The legislation to lift the debt ceiling would be accompanied by the creation of a 12-member panel made up of 12 lawmakers, six from each chamber and six from each party. Such a committee, which some have called a “Super Congress” or a “super committee”, reportedly would have special powers which currently are unconstitutional. In the plan the debt ceiling would be raised by one trillion dollars for a period coupled with an equal dollar figure of cuts over a ten year period. A second increase in the debt ceiling would be tied to the creation of this Super Congress that would be required to find a minimum amount of spending cuts.

The debt ceiling date is August 2 if Congress does not approve additional borrowing. Republicans have insisted the White House agree to deep spending cuts for long-term deficit reduction before they approve any increase in America's debt burden. Republican leaders would like to show progress before Monday and before 4pm ET on Sunday when the financial market trading begins in Asia.

The Balanced Budget amendment was bad enough, now they want to create another unconstitutional congressional body with unprecedented powers that go far beyond that are a regular member of Congress. Multiple news reports and people familiar with his plan say, House Speaker John Boehner has made this a central part of his last-minute proposal. What is John Boehner thinking, does this make any sense? I don't think so.

Mike

Balanced Budget Amendment is a really bad idea!!!

The idea of changing the Constitution to require a balanced budget seems like a good idea right? It appears to force lawmakers to live within their means. How could that be a bad thing? Well, how is it that most U.S. states now requires a balanced budget from the governor and/or the legislature, Yet still find themselves in various types of financial messes?

At the state and local level it creates an incentive to create all sort of off-budget enterprises like housing authorities and hospital authorities, to avoid the implications of the balanced-budget amendment. Also a balanced-budget amendment would mandate action to counter recessions and economic downturns not to mention tax revenue shortfalls and unemployment benefits. This would essentially hard wire Keynesian Economics into the United States Constitution.

Below is the contents of a letter written to our leaders in Washington in regards to the idea of balanced budget amendment. The letter is written by 6 past Nobel Prize Economists and Laura Tyson from the University of California, Berkeley.

We, the undersigned economists, urge the rejection of proposals to add a balanced-budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. While the nation faces significant fiscal problems that need to be addressed through measures that start to take effect after the economy is strong enough to absorb them, writing a requirement into the Constitution that the budget be balanced each year would represent very unsound policy. Adding additional restrictions, as some balanced budget amendment proposals would do, such as an arbitrary cap on total federal expenditures, would make the balanced budget amendment even worse.

1. A balanced budget amendment would mandate perverse actions in the face of recessions. In economic downturns, tax revenues fall and some outlays, such as unemployment benefits, rise. These so-called built-in stabilizers increase the deficit but limit declines of after-tax income and purchasing power. To keep the budget balanced every year would aggravate recessions.

2. Unlike many state constitutions, which permit borrowing to finance capital expenditures, the federal budget makes no distinction between capital investments and current outlays. Private businesses and households borrow all the time to finance capital spending. A balanced budget amendment would prevent federal borrowing to finance expenditures for
infrastructure, education, research and development, environmental protection, and other investment vital to the nation's future well being.

3. A balanced budget amendment would invite Congress to enact unfunded mandates,
requiring states, localities, and private businesses to do what it cannot finance itself. It also invites dubious accounting maneuvers (such as selling more public lands and other assets and counting the proceeds as deficit-reducing revenues), and other budgetary gimmicks. Disputes on the meaning of budget balance would likely end up in the courts, resulting in judge-made economic policy. So would disputes about how to balance an unbalanced budget when Congress lacks the votes to inflict painful cuts.

4. Balanced budget amendment proposals typically contain escape hatches, but in peacetime they require super-majorities of each House to adopt an unbalanced budget or to raise the debt limit. These provisions are recipes for gridlock.

5. An overall spending cap, which is part of some proposed amendments, would further limit Congress’s ability to fight recessions through either the built-in automatic stabilizers or deliberate changes in fiscal policy. Even during expansions, a binding spending cap could harm economic growth because increases in high-return investments — even those fully paid for with additional revenue — would be deemed unconstitutional if not offset by other spending reductions. A binding spending cap also would mean that emergency spending (for example on natural disasters) would necessitate reductions elsewhere, leading to
increased volatility in the funding for non-emergency programs.

6. A Constitutional amendment is not needed to balance the budget. The budget not only attained balance, but actually recorded surpluses and reduced debt, for four consecutive years after Congress enacted budget plans in the 1990s that reduced spending growth and raised revenues. This was done under the existing Constitution, and it can be done again. No other major nation hobbles its economy with a balanced-budget mandate. There is no need to put the nation in an economic straitjacket. Let the President and Congress make fiscal policies in response to national needs and priorities as the authors of our Constitution wisely provided.

7. It is dangerous to try to balance the budget too quickly in today’s economy. The large spending cuts and/or tax increases that would be needed to do so would greatly damage an already-weak recovery.

You can see the complete letter here.

Update 7-25-2011

It has come to my attention that the use of this letter (From my previous post on 7-20) might not be having the effect I planned.  I hoped that using material from a left leaning source would help show the commonality between our points of view.   As I wrote this I assumed that most readers would understand the natural aversion to changing the Constitution that any Constitutionalists would have.  I understood that many of the economists who wrote this letter lean to the left, I figured it would show both sides of the argument which agree, but what I failed to calculate was the mass support such an amendment would have.  If your reading my blog you probably lean to the right and should realize I do as well.  I'd like to believe you don't support a balanced budget amendment just because some leftist economists disagree with the idea.  I don't make a habit of supporting something just because the left is against it. There are many reasons why I hold the view I do, some of the reasons coincide with the views of these economists and some do not.

I personally believe in a free market economic system which takes controls away the Federal Government.  This means in my personal view anything that puts more control on the economy is a bad idea.  Murry Rothbard once wrote, "balancing the budget by increasing taxes is like curing influenza by shooting the patient."  A balanced budget amendment would allow the Federal Government to use tax hikes to do just that.  He also agreed with one of my earlier points.  He believed a major flaw was treating "the budget" as a constitutional entity which would increase the tendency of the government to spend money on off book items that don't get included in official expenses.  There are all kinds of games that can be played depending on how such an amendment is written.  Do we really want to take the chance right now with the current climate?  My last aversion but certainly not least in my mind is the fact that spending is our problem.

WE DON'T NEED A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO CUT SPENDING!

Why people can't understand this is beyond me.

Cheers,

Mike

Do not raise the debt ceiling, "Cut and Lower"

The debt ceiling in 1981 was 1 Trillion Dollars. ($1,000,000,000,000.00) It's Currently over 14 Trillion Dollars. (14,000,000,000,000.00)

Every President since has raised it. It has been raised 20 times in the last 30 years. Why are we arguing over whether we need to increase the debt limit again when the obvious answer is that we need to lower it. I propose we start pushing our legislators to form a new plan which I'll call, "Cut and Lower".

Cut the spending, cut the size of the Federal Monster and Lower the Debt Ceiling. Then we need a Cap that ties the future debt ceiling to some sort of percentage of GDP so it can't get out of control again. This is the only plan that makes any real sense given the severity of our situation.

Please vote on the Soda Head Poll below.

Drug War, It's time to end it now.

I last visited this topic 2 years ago and in that time I've become more familiar with the ins and outs of drug policy. Since then it has only strengthened my resolve.  I understand many conservatives support the war on the drugs which means by default many TEA Party people do as well.  This is slightly unnerving to me as the TEA Party filter takes no issue with the legalization of drugs.  Legalizing drugs, even the hard ones are fully supported by the ideas of less government, free market trade and fiscal responsibility.  What is a little weird now is suddenly the country is filled with discussion about legalizing marijuana and other drugs. Candidates, politicians, former presidents and special interest groups also believe that the War on Drugs needs to come to an end.

What's even more inspiring is that people are looking at Portugal and it's recent results. They were not winning the war on drugs, actually they were losing it handily. In desperation, they passed legislation with the effect of a de facto legalization of all drugs. The result was not rampant, widespread drug abuse. Drug use and addiction actually declined, as did violence and disease.

The economic crisis is helping the realization that the war on drugs has failed. Taxpayers have long been slow to recognize the economic burden of drug prohibition. For decades they've been told that we only need to spend a little more and remove a few more constitutional protections. With decades of broken promises, busted budgets with trillion-dollar holes, and a teetering economy in crisis, more and more people are saying no to the war on drugs. Even LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, recently released a report entitled "Ending the Drug War: A Dream Deferred" on the 40th anniversary of the War on Drugs.

It's time, why wait.

Cheers,

Mike

Illegal Dance Party in Danville, IL

Federal Park Police arrested five people on Saturday May 28th for dancing at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. The group was protesting a May 17 ruling in a case that dates back to April 2008, when a group of young libertarians organized by the now defunct group "Bureaucrash" decided to rendezvous at the memorial for a silent celebration of TJ's birthday.

Below is an account from "Spectator's" of the 2008

So as not to disturb any fellow memorial visitors, the group -- which numbered about 20, fewer than the 25 that would require a permit -- opted to wear headphones and listen to their own iPods. As it turned out, the half-dozen or so unrelated onlookers who happened to be on-hand (the park is open 24 hours) appeared mostly amused by the spectacle.

SECURITY PERSONNEL MOST assuredly were not amused. Within two minutes of the event's start, they began moving to disperse the crowd, ordering the dancers to leave immediately, forcibly laying their hands on some and hurling profanities at others.

A few party-goers attempted to explain the nature of the event, but memorial staff were in no mood to discuss political theory. At 11:59, just four minutes after the event's start, U.S. Park Police had detained and were handcuffing the aforementioned "Jefferson 1" -- 28-year-old occasional Spectator contributor Brooke Oberwetter -- ostensibly for unauthorized dancing.

Or, as former Bureaucrash chief Jason Talley puts it, "One minute I'm taking video of people celebrating the freedoms etched in the walls surrounding us, the next we see armed agents of the state putting chains on a friend of ours.

The ridiculous IL Dept. of Revenue

Ok, here is my rant in regards to a personal tax situation I am currently dealing with, what good is having a blog if you can't use it to vent from time to time:-)

2007 my wife Sara and I filed our taxes like good little citizens on time and online well before the April deadline. Receiving refunds from the both the IRS and the state of IL. Our state refund was pretty small, so I checked the box for them to keep it and put it towards next year,(This is the first and last time I will ever do this by the way)I then forgot about it.

Sara and I carry on with our lives for the next 3 years and each year we file our taxes as usual. in 2010 I receive a letter from the IL Dept. of Revenue, they want me to pay taxes for 2007. After a quick review I realize that the reason they want me to pay taxes is because they show zeros all across the board for us. I think that this must surely be an error since I know we filed. I attempt to call them several times for about a week, usually getting only a busy tone, but I keep at it and finally get a live person. She tells me someone will call back ASAP. This never happens. Again, I forget about it because this must obviously be an error.

In July I receive another letter warning of garnishment if I do not take care of the taxes. Again I begin calling ever other day trying to get through. After about 5 or so days calling I finally get a person who suggests I send a copy of my return in for review. I comply with this request and wait, while I assume this matter will simply be taken care of. Keep in mind that we are not talking about thousands of dollars, we're talking about less than $900 total.

October rolls around and I again receive the same letter I received back in July. Now I'm a little pissed off. Again I call and again it takes several attempts to get someone on the phone. They inform me that nothing has been done on my file, there is no record or my mailing and no record of any arrangements I've made. I'm told that I must send the documents and copies of my return if I am to resolve this issue. This time I record all the information and send a complete packet via certified mail with delivery confirmation on 11-4 still before the deadline for amnesty by they way. Again I wait.

In December I call again on my own to check on the status. Again, I'm told that nothing has changed. I'm told this can take time before anything is resolved. Again I'm encouraged to send copies. I sent not one, or two but three complete packets, one for each department within the Dept. of Revenue, yes they have three offices with three PO Box addresses all in Springfield, IL. Again I wait.

I filed our 2010 taxes as usual in February of 2011 but I never receive our IL tax refund and no information is available on the status of our return. In April I receive a letter from the Dept. of Revenue indicating that our refund has been withheld and applied to our penalty for our 2007 taxes. This confirms my assumption. They have received my return and credited our account with the taxes paid in 2007, but now are charging us with a penalty of $280.00.

I go through 4 people trying to get to the bottom of this ridiculous situation. I remind them that I sent in all the required documentation well before the deadline for the 2010 Tax Amnesty program, even though I had actually paid my taxes. I'm informed that this program does not apply to us, BECAUSE WE PAID OUR TAXES. This program only applies to people who DID NOT pay their taxes. So since our taxes are being reported as a late filing we must pay the $280 penalty.

I now must file a BOA-1 petition to the board of Appeals to request an adjustment of the fine.

The moral of this story. Apparently it's better to be a deadbeat than to follow the rules. If I had not paid any taxes for 2007, but had been stupid enough to file a Federal Return, which some people do, in order to receive the refund I would be done by now with no fines, penalties or interest. But since I followed the rules, I must now crawl to this Special IL Dept. of Revenue Board of Appeals, and beg.

Thank you.

Cheers,

Mike

Wind Power, is it really the next big thing?

I keep hearing about wind power, and how this form of Green Energy is the next big thing. It's being reported that Wind Energy is going to produce money for schools and produce many well paid jobs. Is all this true? Did the United States invent this cutting edge technology? Actually no, wind power has been around for many years and it's use as Green Technology has been implemented all across the globe. With so much track record surly we can look to it's significant achievements around the world, right?

The facts are not as spectacular as you might think. First, wind power is still very expensive to produce. A modern coal plant of conventional designs produces at about 7.8 cents a kilowatt-hour; a high-efficiency natural gas plant, 10.6 cents; and a new nuclear reactor, 10.8 cents. A wind plant in a favorable location would cost 9.9 cents per kilowatt hour. But if a utility relied on a great many wind machines, it would need to back them up with conventional generators in places where demand tends to peak on hot summer days with no breeze. That pushes the price up to just over 12 cents, making it more than 50 percent more expensive than a kilowatt-hour for coal.

The following is an excerpt from an Investors Business Daily Editorial.
Scandal: Spain exposed the boondoggle of wind power in 2009, discrediting an idea touted by the Obama administration. In response, U.S. officials banded with trade lobbyists to hide the facts. Research director Gabriel Calzada Alvarez didn't object to wind power itself, but found that when a government artificially props up this industry with subsidies, higher electrical costs (31%), tax hikes (5%) and government debt follow. Fact is, these subsidies have the same "Cuisinart" effect on jobs as wind-generating propeller blades have on birds. Every green job costs $800,000 to create and 90% of them are temporary, he found.

Ok, so I covered the hidden costs of wind power, what you should also know is that there may be unseen health effects of wind power as well. Many years ago several industries have experienced unforeseen health effects, consider asbestos in manufacturing, and the chemicals used for years by workers which we now know cause cancer. Wind Power may not be a new idea but certainly humans have only recently been exposed to giant turbines whirling around at high speed. Some studies have shown that wind turbines create infrasound which is sound lower than 20hz or the normal range of human hearing. This is similar to UV light which cannot be seen but we now understand can have many harmful effects. Many farmers have reported GPS malfunctions when operating under the turbines and we have known for some time now that they cause issues with Radar used by flight controllers so is it really hard to believe that there may be more going on then we can see or hear?

The whole reason I prepared this piece was to give an opposing view point. It's easy in today's day and age to fall victim to the propaganda being forced on us by all the government agencies involved in selling this program or that program to the American people. I'm not saying we should abandon wind power but we need to make sure it's really a solution before we dive into it with reckless abandon falling for the same old lure of high paying jobs and financial resources for the children.

One last question I would pose is this. What happens to the turbines when they fail? All we need to do is look at the west coast, Hawaii, Spain and Canada to see the sea of derelict and abandoned wind turbines. Developers continue to resist the practice of posting bonds for the decommissioning of failed and obsolete turbines, even when the only reason to access these bonds would be in the event one is abandoned and left to rot. Most simply argue that this would never happen as these turbines are far too profitable to abandon. Words alone however and not enough to prevent these companies from going bankrupt and leaving behind dead turbines with tons of steel and concrete waste.

Cheers,

Mike
