Robert Byrd was a great man, was he?

All Americans expect the black ones. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but when the dead is Senator Robert Byrd it's hard not to speak ill, unless of course your a Democrat. They made this man seem like he was saint while he lived. We're supposed to forget about his time as a Ku Klux Klan recruiter or the letters he wrote expressing the demand for the Klan in his home state and the rest of the United States. Also we are to forget his voting against all civil rights legislation including the Civil Rights Act of 1965. It was only 20 short years ago he wrote about reconsidering his position on black people, "Maybe they love their children also."

Maybe Democrats are afraid of what people will think if they knew the real Robert Byrd?
