Everyone should watch last Fridays Beck

Craig T. Nelson (Coach) was real on Friday. I think his interview with Glenn Beck on
3-30-2009 may have been the most honest representation I have seen on Network T.V.. Of a person who most closely represents myself. What say do I have in all the spending the government does? What say do you have? Does someone call and ask your opinion on spending increases? Is there a vote? Of course not, that's not how government works.

We need a government that can run things without getting approval on every single issue, this is obvious and understood. Without this there would be in chaos and nothing would get done. We do however need officials who are aren't going to run around and spend recklessly on things the voters don't even know about.

This is why the local government is supposed to be stronger than the Federal Government. This is how the founding fathers planned it. This is the way it was intended to be. Over time however it seems that the Federal Government has grown it's powers to the point where it can do anything it wants.

If more people were to follow Mr. Nelsons lead the Government would have no choice but to listen.

Our civilization is stuck in gear!!!

“To be able to fill leisure intelligently is the last product of civilization, and at present very few people have reached this level.”

Bertrand Russell

More people today than ever before are more interested in American Idol or their favorite sports team than they are in maintaining their freedom. I fear the next great dictator will be a person who takes over the U.S. This person will need nothing more than to promise the masses that everyone will have a big screen T.V, new car and free living.

People will bow to this figure and give their allegiance openly and without reserve. They won't even ask why am I getting this from you, what do you want in return?

Like the Devil, asking for your soul for a small miracle or material good.

It's scary to think this way but someone has to.

Cheers,

Mike

If I ever decide on a life of crime I'm moving to Cali

Yes, these are prisoners doing Yoga.

I know I know, a society is judged by how we treat our prisoners. But I think it's a little much when a state like California who is in debt and making claims that they will not be able to keep murderers and rapists in prison if they don't raise taxes, wants to spend even more money on Aroma Therapy and Yoga for it's inmates. A recent report shows Cali spends $50,000.00 a year on it's inmates. $14,000 of that is for health care. That's more than most people anywhere spend on health care. Audra Strickland wants to increase spending by $8,000,000,000.00 a year. 8 BILLION dollars, which would include Yoga facilities and Aroma therapy.

For those who may not pay attention as closely as I do, please understand. California right now is cutting spending on Health care for others who need it. They are currently in the process of cutting spending on Medicaid, Healthy Families, and even Welfare programs.

At current levels they spend about 5 times more on an inmate then they do on a student.

Shouldn't that be the other way around???

I'm no fan of welfare programs as I don't believe they are designed well and give zero incentive for people to actually get turned around and working to support themselves. But I would rather see money spent on those who at least theoretically need the help more than on murderers and rapists who have already chosen a path.

Add to this all the other outrageous spending that California does on it own and it's no wonder they're in trouble.

The real issue I have is those who defend Cali's spending saying that spending has actually stayed in line with population growth and inflation increases. Hello, do you need to spend ever last dollar to the penny? Just because you CAN spend doesn't mean you should. Do you understand what a surplus is? California should be used as an example for the world on how not to run a government, but instead is held up on a pedestal like a shiny example or progress.

"Or is that Progressiveness"

Mike

"Don't Smile" Big Brother is Watching

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/27/AR2009052703627.html

This is what I'm talking about, and it's not even a new story. But apparently since the Government has finally gotten around to making it mandatory that all 50 states have similar ID requirements. They now want to and have in some states, made it illegal to smile in your photo. I'm not an anarchist I do believe we need some government, but the nature of it is that they can not take just a little, they take as much as they want and tread all over the people. The real issue here is why?

They want us all to be stone faced so they can plug our mug into their facial recognition software. They want to be able to catalog us. They want to be able to pick us out of a crowd with a machine. They want us in the machine. Slightly creepy if you ask me. The real issue I have is that I can actually wrap my arms around this to some degree. I mean if they are looking for a bad guy this seems like it would be a excellent tool to use. But I wonder, 'Why aren't the liberals who were so up in arms over the Patriot Act not screaming about this"?

Add into the mix that the Government now has the legal power to take your newborn babies blood. It does this without your consent and you can not say no. They voted this into affect as law back in 2003. They have a DNA repository going back to 1997. The original reason "which made some sense" was to test for disease. But, they now keep the DNA, they do not destroy it they keep it on file. Why?

So in summary, Big Brother has our Photos, all of our personal information and even our DNA in a database somewhere. It seems every week we here a new story about some company or government agency who lost a laptop of was hacked into. The President just today announced yet another Czar to be named, A technology Czar who will be responsible for insuring that all of our data is safe. Sounds backwards to me but who am I?

Just something to consider.

Cheers,

Mike

If only I were a Latina!

If only I were a women, "a Latina" then maybe I could understand why the U.S. is in the position it is in today. Maybe if I had that rich heritage I would understand how spending tax revenue on new and more expensive options help us reduce debt and get the economy back on track. Maybe, but I think not. I think my real problem is that my skin is white, my last name is Ortiz and I don't know who I am anymore.

I'm a minority, no wait I'm an evil white man. I must be be wrong because of the color of my skin, right? My dad was from Mexico and my mom from Germany, so I'm a first generation American. So I must be a minority. But no I'm evil and racist because I didn't vote for Obama. AAAhhhhh!!!, Help please, I need universal health care so I can get the mental help that I need.

I did not come from a privileged background. I did not make a fortune on the Internet bubble. I did not rush out and buy more house than I could afford because Country Wide wanted to give me the money. I used to think I was a republican. I used to think that more people voting was a good thing. I used to think that organized education was a way for people to improve their life.

Now, I don't know I just don't know. I think Glenn Beck has the right idea, more people talking with one another. We need to share ideas and kick the career politicians out of office. We need to fill those offices with people who believe in our constitution and are willing to get the job done and get out. Let the next man or women take over and continue were they left off instead of always doing what they need to do in order to get re-elected.

This is my first real blog, I hope to grow it into something meaningful and not just as a platform for my crazy frustration. I hope you enjoy it and share it with those like you who may find it entertaining and maybe even illuminating.

Cheers,

Mike
