The Congressional Black Caucus declares war on the TEA Party Movement

The TEA Party movement has been attacked and ridiculed for some time now but the The Congressional Black Caucus has sent their representatives back to their districts with one unified message. That message is loud and clear. "the TEA Party movement is the enemy." Now they are in full force, mustering strength all across the nation on a plan of attack to discredit and slander anyone who associates themselves with the TEA Movement. What are our choices at this point? We can either yield or we can stand strong and take the brunt of the attack on the nose. I shall stand, are you with me?

Michelle Bachmann supported Big Labor before she was against it.

In 2007 Michelle Bachmann not only voted for, but she co-sponsored a bill supported by then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to essentially force unionization of public sector public saftey workers. The bill H.R. 980 known as the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007 can found here.

Michele Bachmann has disavowed her 2007 sponsorship of a bill granting collective-bargaining rights to firefighters and police officers. A spokesperson Alice Stewart said she signed onto the bill because she was given "bad information" and has since reversed her position. So wait a minute, she didn't read and understand the bill? That doesn't sound very TEA Party does it? Ron Paul on the other hand, voted NO.

U.N. Agenda 21

If you don't know about U.N. Agenda 21 yet, you really need to learn about it.

U.N. Agenda 21 is a plan for sustainable development (Green Development)on a global scale. It could be a means of instituting "centralized control" over the planet. Of course many of the big global players and hostile nations will probably never go for such a thing the U.S. is right on board. Please read the Agenda 21 plan yourself.

Then keep your eyes open for what's going on around us.

Another interesting development just uncovered is the fact that Rick Perry former Texas Governor has some experience with Agenda 21 already. The NAFTA superhighway was a giant Public Private Partnership that was widely dubbed the largest State land grab in the History of our nation. A man who will support this type of Government action will stop at nothing to succeed. Do you know where his loyalties lie? I don't.

Rick Perry Porn

Governor Perry’s campaign office did not respond to requests regarding his ownership of stock in Movie Gallery, a video rental company that was boycotted by American Family Association for the pornographic and violent films it sold and rented. Some of the titles included Teens with Tits Vol. 1, Teen Power Vol. 4, Teens Never Say No, Big Tit Brotha Lovers 6, Bisexual Barebacking Vol. 1 which from its title and cover appears to advocate gay and straight naked fornication and sodomy. Big Tit Brotha Lovers 6 offers Hardcore Interracial Sex.

What worse than just making Porn is that Forbes reports that pornography increases Movie Gallery’s profits enough to low ball the prices on regular, non-pornographic rentals. Pornography is a unique product that many stores are reluctant to sell. Movie Gallery’s practices have forced small, locally owned rental chains out of business.

Rick Perry put all his publicly traded stock in a blind trust in 1996, making them unavailable to public scrutiny. He invested between $5,000 to $10,000 in Movie Gallery, according to a 2006 article which cites Perry’s personal financial statement for 1995, the last year available. In June 2003 Perry signed a tort reform law which benefited Movie Gallery.

Now I'm not going to judge the man for making Porn. I don't care what movies he makes but what really rubs me the wrong way is when a man who invests in Porn works so hard to portray himself as a man of GOD.

8-16-2011 Danville City Council Remarks

As a public citizen I would like to point out to the council that I appreciate hearing questions in regards to the spending. I think more citizens would be more involved and have higher confidence if they were aware that that our city's leaders actually did look these expenses over on a weekly basis. As a citizen and a previous candidate for this council I know this information is available to view but I also know most people do note take the time. It's not only our Federal Government that needs to get under control but our local units of governments could be well served by some contraction as well. I know I don't speak for only myself when I Commend Alderman Black and Alderman Williams and the rest for asking questions and getting clarifications on the issues with spending. Not just for getting answers as to where the money is going but for helping to shed light on size and scope our city government.

An $1800 lawnmower for each firehouse, I wouldn't have known that if the question weren't asked. I also purchased a lawnmower this year only mine cost $250. My last mower cost about $200 and it lasted me 5 years. Imagine if each item over $500 had to be fully explained before being voted on, this would extend the time each meeting takes but it would also make city officials and department heads think twice before spending a dollar.

I ask that more of the Alderman make a point to question these expenses as they come up, if for no other reason to make sure they're not hidden. Remember silence equals acceptance.

Personally I'm not interested in hearing pre-packaged or pre-qualified questions and answers. As Alderman Black pointed out, it's not personal, it's about getting the information.

Transparency in government doesn't happen naturally, it only happens when an engaged citizenry and it's elected officials dare to ask those questions. Transparency in government does not come from neatly prepared statements to pre-determined questions but rather off the cuff questions as they arise. It's been said that the people deserve the government they get. If we are to be more concerned about feelings when catching someone off guard then getting answers, then perhaps the city should purchase several teleprompters and run each city council meeting off a script to avoid this from ever happening?

On another topic, in regards to the idea of raising Garbage collection fees from last weeks committee meeting. I want to share my opinion “Absolutely not”.
Only 1 year ago the yard waste fee increased from $10 to $20 and the service was shorted. This meant a 100% increase in the cost for 50% less service.

I was sitting in this room last year when the question of purchasing another truck at a cost of over $200,000 was brought to the attention of the council. I don’t remember ever hearing about a budget deficit due to fuel at that time.
What I do remember is being told that this purchase was going to help save money in the long run. It’s great that the city is saving 20 grand a year on workman’s
compensation claims but that’s a far cry from the $188,000 deficit that was reported.

The solid waste collection is supposed to be a self-sustaining enterprise fund. It was reported that the loans for the solid waste collection totters and trucks are to be paid off faster than anticipated. If the loans are projected to be paid by the Spring of 2012 the money that was going towards the loans' principal and interest is now available for use as maintenance funds for the enterprise account, so I’m having a really hard time understanding why we need the increase.

Also reported was that the solid waste division has about $1.1 million of Capital Improvements it NEEDS to make during the next five years including the purchase of additional land to relocate the yard waste facility. I’m pretty sure Capital Improvements means nice things we’d like to do in the future. If we’re having trouble coming up with $188,000 perhaps spending another 1.1 million might not be such a hot idea. That’s just my opinion, well no, it’s also the opinion of every other voter I’ve spoken to about it during the last week.

Thank you.

Today is the 40th birthday of the fiat currency known as the U.S. Dollar

ON August 15th in 1971 President Richard Nixon announced that the U.S. would no longer officially trade dollars for gold. Gold was worth $35 per ounce when they made this announcement. The currency had already been going thru a period of debasement for about 6 years due to the high costs of Gold and silver and the ever increasing costs of running the United States of America. Today that policy turns 40 years old and marks the first prolonged period in the last two thousand years that man has not used currency based on precious metals. Brian Domitrovic of Forbes says, this is a "new era of human history". Is he right?

Well This certainly is true. We know have gold north of $1600 and silver sitting right where Gold sat back in 1971. Is that bizarre, it should be.

Mike

Dissecting the Ames Straw Poll Results

This years results from Ames are intriguing very intriguing. People like Mark Levin still refer to Ron Paul as a loon. On Friday Levin says there is no groundswell of support for Ron Paul even though his activists try to create the illusion of support in these straw polls. That's some illusion.

Ron Paul received 4671 votes in Iowa. That's 1% less than the winner or 152 votes less to be exact. That's fewer votes than the 217 that were unaccounted for, but I'm not going to get into the conspiracy side of it. Rather I'd like to focus on the huge gap between Ron Paul "the loon" and the rest of the field. In Iowa, interventionism still runs fairly high. Levin and war Mongers like him will have you believe that Ron Pauls opinions from Thursday's debate are crazy. If they are crazy, why did so many Iowians vote for Paul on Saturday?

The Gap between Paul and the rest is huge. Ron Paul received more than twice the votes of the third place finisher Tim Pawlenty. He received 3 times the votes of 4th and 5th place finishers Rick Santorum and Herman Cain. If you look at the above graph it looks like Ron Paul and Michelle Bachmann were in a different competition that the rest of the field. Newt Gingrich who scored some points last Thursday only received 385 votes. Mitt Romney "The Media's Front Runner" only received 567 votes. Mitt of course left Iowa after the Debate and did not attend the Straw Poll, but I personally don't think this effects the results as many Iowians go to Ames to vote, not decide who to vote for.

If people in the heart of the Midwest feel this strongly about Liberty I hope the rest of the nation takes notice. Only time will tell but until then I continue to support Ron Paul in his run. Good luck Doctor, you have my vote.

Cheers,

Mike

Meet the Super Committee

These are the 12 people who could possibly lead us into a dictatorship. The 12 cronies and yes men (and yes woman), hand picked by Boehner, Pelosi, Reid and McConnell. These folks will be given unconstitutional power that exceeds the normal power granted to members of Congress.

The Democrats: Representatives James Clyburn, Chris Van Hollen and Xavier Becerra Senators Patty Murray, John Kerry and Max Baucus.

The Republicans: Representatives Dave Camp, Fred Upton and Jeb Hensarling. Senators Jon Kyl, Pat Toomey and Rob Portman.

This is a spectacular representation of the disconnected and disaffected folks in Washington. You've got the the Country Club crowd, Limousine Liberals and two faced politicians of the people like Patty Murray who goes out and publicly attacks the Koch Brothers while secretly soliciting campaign donations from them. This is the group that is charged with saving the economy by finding the needed cuts.

Keep in mind that there is no official role for this group and no guidelines as to what they can or can't do. This group will be able to fast track any legislation they see fit, as long they agree on it. There is also no hard set expiration date for this committee. It scares the heck out of me, I hope it scares you as well.

It's all in a wheelbarrow full of cash

I've noticed something that really bugs me. The symbolism of a wheelbarrow full of cash seems to have changed over the years. While reading a ridiculous article somewhere suggesting that anyone who compares our financial situation to the German Wiemar Republic should be automatically ignored and written off as a, "fool incapable of intelligent and forward thinking debate.". I did a google search to find some historical pics of Germans back in the 20's. I also searched "wheelbarrow full of cash", and to my instant horror it occurred to me that this image is now being used a symbol of success or worse a sign of largess and corporate greed. It seems somewhere along the line people got the idea that this image should be used to portray people taking large amounts of money in their success as business people.

Do they realize how wrong this is? I have to assume the answer to this question is no. Most of the images depict happy looking people in business suits. Some even go so far as to have arm pumping signs of victory. I wonder if they would be arm pumping if they needed all that cash just to buy some groceries or a tank of gas for their car? I bet not. Worse still is that the the German example is not the only one. This type of hyperinflation has occurred several times in Europe, Africa and South America but modern day economists still feel secure in their Keynesian ways.

Back during Germany's hyper inflationary period between 1922 and 1923 things got so bad it wasn't just a matter of getting your cash to market before it was worthless but the smaller denominations were put to more utilitarian uses. They used Cash (Marks) to light their stoves and even wallpaper rooms. It was also used for child's recreation. You can still find old photos of Children using bundles of cash as building blocks and industrious boys who built kites out of worthless paper currency.

Don't worry it's not that bad yet.

But our leaders are working on it.

I could go on and on about the fiscal policy policy but for the moment I'm more concerned with how this

Became this.

Or worse.

Illinois Dairy License set to destroy more small business

Kris Swanberg the founder and owner of Nice Cream, a boutique ice cream maker in Chicago, IL learned last week how hard it is to be a small business in Illinois. The Department of Public Health informed her she would have to shut down if she didn't obtain a " Dairy License." What does this mean for her business? In order to continue under the new rules she would need to adhere to the following.

  • "Obtain her own work space. Currently they work out of the Logan Square Kitchen."
  • "Have product tested once a month for bacterial levels."
  • "Change all of the packaging and labels to meet state standards."
  • "Purchase a  $40,000 pasteurizer"
The IDPH officer who visited told her that her ice cream probably wouldn’t pass the bacteria tests if she continued to use fresh strawberries. Instead the officer suggested she use "strawberry syrup",  Swanberg told a Chicago Tribune interviewer.  The following is taken right from the Nice Cream website.

"Nice Cream is a seasonal ice cream handcrafted right here in Chicago, IL.  We use fresh & organic ingredients from local farms that treat their animals with love and respect."

Using Strawberry syrup and ice cream mix would completely change her product and her business model.  What's worse is that the these regulations are on the same level as those enforced on large ice cream makers.  No small operator can afford to compete on this level, nor do they want to.  That's the idea of natural and organic producers.  They cater to a group of people who go out of their way to buy products that are not processed and pasteurized.

Unless legislative changes are made Nice Cream will soon no longer be available for purchase and yet one more small business will be put to rest.  What's worse is that boutique organic ice cream is an industry in Chicago.  This change threatens not only Nice Cream but all of the providers who produce handcrafted ice cream.  This also begs to ask the question, why has only Nice Cream been targeted so far by the IDPH?   Is this the kind of  action that we look for from our State Government?

If you live in Illinois and agree that this type of action is ridiculous please let your State Representatives know how you feel.

Cheers,

Mike

July Jobs Report not as good as it seems

So the July Jobs Report shows a slight increase in net job creation and a decrease in unemployment. If you google "July Jobs report" you'll see headlines like "Recession Fears Ease After Jobs Report" and "July Jobs Grow Slightly". What those articles don't tell you are the facts shown within the report itself. There were 139,296,000 people working in July, compared to 139,334,000 the month before, or a drop of 38,000.

How does that work? The government calls these folks “discouraged workers”, unemployed people who are not looking for work.

These folks are generally not included in the government’s various job measures. This shows how the unemployment figures are largely part of the plan to sugar coat the situation we're in so people will believe a recovery is still in the works. If you were to stick all those people back in the workforce you would wipe out the job creation and the drop in unemployment.

Our current administration, Our President, wouldn't how to create a job to save his life. In his mind creating new government work is creating jobs. The private sector is just another annoyance he must deal with. Those pesky capitalistic entrepreneurs that think they can create jobs if allowed to keep their own money instead of funding the machine known as the Federal Government are only gnats that need to be swiped away.

Now John Kerry doesn't want equal time, go figure.

This morning on "Morning Joe", Senator John Kerry said the following,

"And I have to tell you, I say this to you politely. The media in America has a bigger responsibility than it's exercising today. The media has got to begin to not give equal time or equal balance to an absolutely absurd notion just because somebody asserts it or simply because somebody says something which everybody knows is not factual."

"It doesn't deserve the same credit as a legitimate idea about what you do. And the problem is everything is put into this tit-for-tat equal battle and America is losing any sense of what's real, of who's accountable, of who is not accountable, of who's real, who isn't, who's serious, who isn't?"

Keep in mind that this is the very same man who supported the idea of the bringing back the "Fairness Doctrine" that required broadcasters in America to "afford reasonable opportunity for the discussion of conflicting views of public importance."

John Kerry said back in 2007 on the Brian Lehrer show on WNYC, "I think the fairness doctrine ought to be there, and I also think equal time doctrine ought to come back,".

So in other words the left wants to force the networks to cover thier opinion but not the oppessing view point. Is that what fair means?

I always thought that fair meant getting equal treatment. Of course we all know that the fairness doctrine was really a tool to keep conservative views in check from the very beginning. It was never about getting both sides of the story it was about making sure that the left point of view dominated the airwaves. John Kerry is a special kind of hypocrite who doesn't even deserve to be taken seriously anymore. He should retire and write books about battles that never happened.

Ja Rule goes to Ja Ale & other misc 2nd Amendment issues

LOL, I couldn't help it.

The rapper known as Ja Rule will be siting in prison for the next year or so. You might not mind that some tattooed rapper is going to prison but the same thing could happen to a school teacher, nurse or construction worker who carries a gun because they don't want to be carjacked or raped by someone armed with a gun. What was Ja's crime? In 2007 Rule was pulled over after a concert and the Police found a loaded handgun in the back seat. He was not using the gun to commit a crime but the gun was the crime.  Simply having the gun is a crime that can land you in prison if you happen to live in a statist city like New York where the 2nd Amendment doesn't apply.

----------

Meanwhile in Chicago, IL, one of the most staunchly anti-gun mayors in the history of our country has requested Armed Protection for life, from the city of Chicago. Chicago's Ex-Mayor, Richard Daley who would prevent all citizens within the borders of the city the right to protect themselves has the Audacity to expect armed police protection for the rest of his life, as a retirement perk. Can you say hypocrite?

----------

A bill prohibiting Florida Doctors from asking patients about gun ownership was signed into law Governor Rick Scott. This has brought out huge outcry from the anti-gun movement who would like to see physicians be able to facilitate the removal of firearms based on health related reasons. Several Anti-gun groups filed a lawsuit seeking to throw out the new law claiming that it violates doctors First Amendment rights. Really? “By severely restricting such speech and the ability of physicians to practice such preventative medicine, the Florida statute could result in grievous harm to children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly,” according to the motion filed Monday in federal court in Miami. I guess firearm ownership is now a disease???

----------

In the rush to pretend that Republicans have scored a victory in the debt limit battle, have you considered this? There are NO SUBSTANTIVE LIMITS on what the "Super Committee" can report. And whatever the committee decides to do is EXEMPT from a filibuster in the Senate and the Speaker's ordinary prerogative not to bring it up in the House. So, take the so-called gun show "loophole." Or the ban on semi-automatics. If the six Democrats can cower a single Republican into going along with these proposals they could become law.

Once a month I will be sharing summarized versions of the latest 2nd Amendment news and ruling. If you want more information on this topic I suggest becoming a member of the GOA (Gun Owners of America). The only no compromise Gun Lobby in Washington, according to Ron Paul.

Let the spending begin!!!

Now that we have a brand new debt deal the economy should rebound right? Well the very next day the DOW Jones average fell 265 points and gold shot up $40 an ounce. Not exactly the type of reaction one would expect from a debt deal that supposedly was saving us from a catastrophic default.

Just as Washington was announcing the new Debt Deal the Bank of Korea announced the purchase of 25 tons of gold over the last two months. This marks the country's first gold purchase in 13 years. Central banks tend to buy gold when they need to diversify their holdings and are not necessarily market timed. Not only has Korea increased their holding recently but so has Kazakhstan, Russia and Thailand.

Why are they increasing their gold holding? Well I think the answer is simple. The U.S. Dollar is heading into very treacherous territory. The debt deal doesn't solve anything. NOTHING!!! The debt ceiling is going up and spending will continue to rise right along with it. To fully understand what the Congress just did, look at this graph provided by the Cato Institute.

Every single Congressman and Senator who says this deal is a step in the right direction is flat out lying to you.

If they start talking about another round of Quantitative Easing (QE3) remember you were warned. This government will continue to borrow, spend and create money until there is no value left in the U.S. Dollar.

The Day After, how did the markets react?

So one day after the Debt Deal was reached how did the markets react to the plan that's supposed to save the sky from falling? Gold is up $40 Dollars an ounce and the DOW Jones is down 265 points. How's that for market confidence? Gold is now $1660 per oz. that's another historic high.

Timothy Geithner said, "I'm not sure whether the bitterly fought debt agreement will be enough to avoid a downgrade of the U.S. top-tier credit rating. "

Our Government, our leaders and our President seem hell bent on destroying the U.S. Dollar if it's the last thing they do. Count your lucky stars for the 24 Brave Members of Congress who voted against this plan and prepare for a fight like you've never seen before. If we don't turn this around in 2012 there is no telling how bad things might get.

BUDGET CONTROL ACT AMENDMENT 8-1-2011

The complete text can viewed here.

The House will be debating this shortly.

The bullet points from the 74 page bill are below.

The deal puts in spending caps like the bill the Republicans passed last week. The caps are worth about $917 billion in cuts over 10 years. Those caps rise from $1.043 trillion in fiscal 2012 to $1.234 trillion in fiscal 2021 they are split between defense and non defense pending.

Leaders in each party and each chamber would appoint three members to a 12-person "Super Committee" that would be tasked with finding $1.2 trillion or more in cuts. The committee would report by Nov. 23, and the bill provides for expedited floor procedures for voting. If they fail to report a bill by November 23 they would lose the special privileges.

If Congress doesn’t act on the "Super Committee" recommendation or if the new law doesn’t meet the reduction goals the difference between $1.2 trillion and whatever is enacted would go into effect. They claim the reductions would be divided equally between defense and non-defense.

The most important issue with the deal is that the debt ceiling will be raised between $2.1 trillion and $2.4 trillion. Obama will get $400 Billion dollars immediately and then he must jump through hoops to get an additional chunk of $500 Billion dollars. Another $1.2 trillion hike can occur when the president requests it but that figure would rise to $1.5 trillion if a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution has been sent to the states for ratification.

I personally do not support anything that allows for the Debt Ceiling to rise again but all early indications are that this bill will likely get approved despite heavy opposition. Ron Paul and a few others have already pledged to vote no. Please continue to contact your Representatives in Congress if you want this measure to fail.

Cheers,

Mike
