ACORN needs to be stopped for Good!

As you may have heard both the Senate and the House have voted to end funding of the organization ACORN. This is a good first step, but only a First Step. You need to be aware that both houses of Congress added this language to completely unrelated bills. This means that the bills that reach the Presidents desk could be stripped of the language and in effect make no change to ACORN's funding what so ever. What needs to happen is an Executive Branch (President Obama) order to use the Federal suspension and Debarment process. This process is coordinated by the Office of Management and Budget at the White House.

This procedure is intended to prevent poor performance, waste, fraud and abuse in federal procurement actions. Debarment or suspension of an organization, business or individual from doing business with the Federal Government is not meant as a punishment but to ensure that federally funded business is conducted legally and with responsible people. This step is the only action that will completely sever the relationship of ACORN with our federal tax dollars.

Congresswomen Michele Bachmann has already written the office to request this procedure. You can sign an online petition here. Without this procedure ACORN is still eligible to receive funds. It is important that you understand the recent congressional votes were only a smoke screen to make it appear that Congress hears our voices and wants to shut ACORN down.

More information on Michele Bachmann

Please sign the petition and put pressure on the White House as well as your representatives to get this process completed as soon as possible.

Cheers,

Mike
