Mark Lloyd of the FCC

This guy is going to try and change the face of talk radio as we know it. If he has his way most of the small town and mid major city radio stations are going to to forced into top 40 music, sports and NPR. You can forget Rush, Beck, Hannity, Boortz or your favorite Conservative talk show. Unless of course they move to Satellite Radio and you can afford it or you can listen to their shows online. This could turn out to be the largest silencing of free speech in the history of America.

Mr Lloyd said this;

“The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) must be reformed along democratic lines and funded on a substantial level. Federal and regional broadcast operations and local stations should be funded at levels commensurate with or above those spending levels at which commercial operations are funded,” Lloyd wrote. “This funding should come from license fees charged to commercial broadcasters. Funding should not come from congressional appropriations. Sponsorship should be prohibited at all public broadcasters.”

In 2006 while serving the "Liberal Center for American Progress" Lloyd wrote a book entitled, (Prologue to a Farce: Communications and Democracy in America) This book presents the idea that private broadcasters (private business) should pay a licensing fee which equals their total operating costs. This would allow the the public broadcasting station to spend the same on their operations as the private companies. How is a private business going to be able to absorb that kind of cost. The simple answer is, "they won't"!

If you enjoy talk radio you need to follow this and make your voices heard.

Watch this video for an introduction to Mr. Lloyd. Please watch the whole video, as the first 3 minute actually sound pretty tame. He gets to the point in the final minute and half, where he sugar coats the agenda of control by way of tax revenues. Market equalization as he puts it.
